Training sessions

I offer ono-to-one gun dog and obedience training at my training facility near Headcorn, Kent. I use positive and balanced training methods, and create a tailored training plan for every client built around you, your partnership with your dog, and the goals you want to achieve.  We set clear aims and objectives which are updated after each session, with actions that can also be taken away and worked on between classes.

While me and my dogs live for beating and picking up on local shoots, I also enjoy training a range of dogs and owners to help show them breed-specific stimulation to help their dogs thrive, improve and strengthen the bond between dog and owner.

I also offer group training sessions which are planned based around the experience of the dog and handler.

Throughout the year I run group training days in various locations, allowing handlers to expose their dogs to distractions, environments and situations that are difficult to replicate when training alone.

Upcoming dates can be found in our Events section.

UK Sniffer Dogs - Scent work

121 scent work sessions

6 week Bronze scent work classes

Bi-weekly continuation classes

2 day work shops

Trials

Our bronze classes or workshops are open to all dogs and handlers, with no previous experience or even basic level of obedience required. In fact dogs who have had no previous training seem to excel the quickest in scent detection!

Scent work is great for working breeds and high energy dogs as it offer a quick way to focus them and calm them down.

We also fine it has a lot of success with reactive dogs training in a group environment. It's great for reactive or nervous dogs as it helps to make them feel calm and relaxed which is essential to help them be better able to cope in social situations.

Water training

I am also now able to offer water training for all dogs in my own purpose-built water complex. The complex features multiple points of entry which includes two ramped entrances, an island, and a variety of depths.

Water training is imperative for all working and gun dog breeds and I can tailor our water training to various levels and abilities of gun dog, and naturally it can also be a fun and enjoyable addition for any dog breeds, not to mention an excellent form of exercise and rehabilitation!

Behavioural consultations

dsc_6477-enhanced-nr.jpg

Fitting in with a family sometimes can be stressful and lead to unwanted behaviours. Similarly despite our best efforts, our dogs can occasionally be exposed to situations which they are unprepared for leading to problematic behaviours. These unwanted behaviours are best addressed early to prevent them becoming a habit or escalating in to a larger problem.

Problem behaviours may include:

  • Resource guarding

  • Reactivity on the lead

  • Over excitability

  • Dog jumping up at you or others

  • Toilet training

  • Separation anxiety

  • Excessive barking

  • Dog to Dog Aggression

  • and much more...

Behavioural consultations assess your dog's behaviours in your home, both good and bad, to find the causes of the behavioural issues. A consultation typically takes around three to four hours after the initial assessment, from which I will create a plan to address the unwanted behaviours which includes a report, a training plan, and guidance on exercise and feeding, including communication for ongoing support.

Behavioural consultations are paid in full on the same day as the consulatation.

Cancellations

All sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice must be paid in full.
